Award winning designer Alberto Parada is the 2009 winner of the JCK Jewelers Choice Award for best neckace. Born in New York City in 1968, Alberto Parada is equally at home in the United States or in his parent's native South America, where he spent much of his youth. Today he lives in Washington DC but travels frequently to Paraguay and Uruguay. His unique cultural background has inspired a passion for bold yet delicate design, influenced by tradition yet utterly new and refreshingly distinctive. A self-taught designer, Alberto worked for 15 years with local jewelers in Washington, DC. In 1999 he opened his own store in stylish Georgetown; his mission was to showcase what seemed to be missing in jewelry design at the time. Alberto describes the vision for his original line as “everyday elegance” – eye-catching jewelry that can be worn anytime and anywhere. Blending diamonds and brilliant South American colored gems with various tones of recycled Harmony 18K gold, Alberto is known for the high quality of his materials and extraordinary craftsmanship. Clients prize his one-of-kind, custom-designed heirloom pieces for their timeless yet modern style.
