Bruno da Rocha Biography

Bruno da Rocha, was born on the 25th of July 1971 in Porto, Portugal. In 1987 he finished his secondary studies in Carvalhos. Between 1988 and 1989 he decided to attend a course in engraving at Soares dos Reis School for one year. The following three years were spent at CINDOR (Jewelry and Watch Manufacture Professional Center) in Gondomar, in the jewellery setting field, focusing in the jewellery, gold smithing, engraving/carving and design areas. Finishing his course in Jeweleryn with honors in 1991, he undertakes training with Fernando Oliveira a northern jeweler. Also, in 1991 he wins the youth professional studies national competition (Tróia/Setúbal) and that same year he takes part in the IBM 1991 International Competition in Amsterdam the Netherlands. Some years later in 1994, he participates in some collective painting exhibitions in Bragança at Nunes Gallery and at the Alfred K Gallery in Helsinki, Finland. In 2004 and 2005 he takes part in the Painting, Sculpture and Jewelery Exhibition at Porto’s Medical Academy, promoted by the Arts and Space Gallery. Also in 2005, at Alfred K Gallery in Helsinki, Finland, Bruno da Rocha presents his own collection. All the pieces of his work were on display at the same Gallery and available to certain purchasers. Being a highly dynamic person and wishing to develop and advance both his creativity and business competence, in 1993 he found his first enterprise “Rocha And Carvão, Ltd", with Maria José Carvão as a partner. However, in 2005 the partnership ended. He then launches and manages “Bruno da Rocha Ltd” in 2005, to further develop and evolve his creative and entrepreneurial talents. Patents were obtained for both enterprises in order to keep originality/quality production and intellectual property rights.

His use of silver, pearls and semi-precious stones from eastern countries and Brazil, can be seen in his delicate pieces of work, such as rings, brooches, earrings, necklaces and pendants. Each piece is unique due to his distinct innovative style, becoming aesthetically pleasant, natural and artistic to those who have the opportunity to wear them. The design and shape of each new piece and collection of silver jewellery is based on nature’s elements having a close connection to our natural environment as well as human taste. Women in the past and in recent time’s men are repeat and demanding customers. This led to the internationalization of his style and trade mark. Spain and Finland are already great clients.
