Raymond Hakimi Biography

Raymond, born July 24 1978, is of Middle Eastern Decent and has jewelry in his blood. He was born in Iran, then moved to Milano, Italy and came to the US with his family in 1980. His family is in its fifth generation in the jewelry business established since 1845 in Valenza, Italy. His great grandfather started selling precious stones and would go on to become among the top ten purveyors of stones in Europe. In the 1920’s the family would launch their jewelry line creating classical and contemporary jewelry in Valenza, Italy; a business the family still runs today. Raymond would benefit from the many years of experience his family had to offer. After studying the history of Egyptian Culture – The Roman Civilization – Medieval Times he wanted to create the colorful beads and emblematic motifs in pure gold ornaments and brooches. It was then at age 18, that he decided he wanted to be a jewelry designer. Raymond also studied jewelry design at FIT and took courses in gemology at the GIA. He also attended numerous conferences and seminars in jewelry design. He is a member of many trade organizations and is always on top of the latest developments in the trade. Raymond is a dedicated craftsman, committed to producing jewelry of uncompromising quality and developed his skills throughout the many years he worked with his family. His work is delicate and devoted not just to the design, but also the technical work of forging the many connections smoothly between the precious metal pieces that are behind the beautiful stones and royal gems. He creates beautifully designed pieces covered by paved diamonds, where one cannot see the metal. Raymond strives to design and create jewelry in the same fashion as the master craftsmen and artisans of the past centuries. He likes to work with rare diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and south sea pearls.
